It's hard to find good authentic Iraqi cuisine in DC area but this place is at the top of the list. The Kabob is good. Grills are generally good. Grilled chicken is great and one of my favorite choices here.
The new restaurant’s owner is great. I’ve been going there twice now and the quality of food is worth every penny. I definitely will be back for the fresh Iraqi bread and samoon taste so authentic. The main dish is a lot of food for one person, specifically, the teshreeb shawarma. Overall, give it a try if you’re craving a Middle Eastern food.
Food was really delicious and restaurant was clean.
They give you a lot of food. Reasonable prices and we had leftovers.
We ordered Quzi, Falafel, 1 Yougurt drink, 1 water and Hummus. Total was $49.45. They still havent updated the restaurant sign
Just had Iraqi Kabob from them .. the owner is a great man and he handled my order the best way .. and the prices for the amount is quite awesome ! The taste was amazing too !
I generally do not write reviews, but this was an accidental find. The hoardings still say, "Ishtar Hookah/Kabob" and Google says that's permanently closed.
Pros: Huge quantities of food for much cheap price, lots of side dishes to accompany the mother dish, authentic taste, melt-in-mouth-soft lamb, friendly staff
Cons: Not-so-transparent billing system forcing you to pay 10% for state taxes before tipping, you have to pay for everything including water, rice is a bit on the oilier side
Overall, everything is so cheap here you do not mind the few extra bucks for the quality food.
